TVET (TAFE Delivered Vocational Education & Training)

You can get a head start on your career by completing a TAFE NSW course, while still at school. TVET courses are available to students in Year 11 and 12 (Stage 6) as well as students in Year 9 and 10 (Stage 5). Stage 6 TVET courses count towards your HSC, with some contributing towards your Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR).

 

If you are in Year 9, 10 or College 1, in term 3 you can get an EOI (Expression of Interest) from our Careers Adviser, Mrs Tucker for one of the TVET courses, which will commence in February 2021.

The Year13 Expo lets you find a career you’re genuinely passionate about without even having to get out of bed.

Over the course of the week, you’ll hear from experts, chat with influencers and explore exhibitors from a host of different universities, TAFEs, colleges, employers and gap year providers.

Through a series of live chats, webinars  and online ‘booths’, the Year13 Expo will help you figure out what it is you’re passionate about and what you need to do in order to get there.

Oh, plus they’ve got $5,000 and some amazing mentorship and work experience opportunities up for grabs with the Year13 Passport.

School Based Apprenticeship Traineeship (SBAT)

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) are more than just part-time jobs - they’re a great way to set yourself up for the career you want whilst you are completing your HSC. 

 

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships are available to all Year 10, 11 and 12 high school students in NSW. They allow students to commence an apprenticeship or complete a traineeship while at school. A School Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship combines paid work, training and school; and as well as an industry recognised national qualification you will gain credit towards the HSC.

The Careers Department have uploaded a webinar on Careers in Maths. The webinar explores all the various job roles available that have strong focuses on maths. 

The career areas discussed:

  • Economics
