Welcome back to the new school year. As we begin 2021, I would like to welcome all of the new staff, students and families joining the fold. I hope that the last few weeks have been a smooth transition.
In the year ahead we hope to continue to build positive partnerships between our families and school. We find this is significant in ensuring that our students are able to enjoy attending school and achieve to a high standard in all aspects of school life.
2020 certainly brought about some challenges but as a community we worked through them together. In 2021 we continue to be just as committed in working together to achieve success.
Late last year our senior executive team took some time to listen to identify the needs of our community and recognise the diversity of our learners, as a result we will be introducing an Academic Excellence Stream to start in year 7 2022.
The Academic Excellence Stream is a personalised acceleration program for high potential students. These students will be able to move through the curriculum at a faster rate based on their performance, maximising their learning potential and allowing them to achieve the best possible HSC and ATAR. We are currently taking enrolments for the Academic Excellence Stream and I’m very excited to see it come to fruition in 2022.
In the meantime time we are continuing to support all our students in receiving the best possible education. It will be a big year for Liverpool Boys High School. The year is still young, yet we have already added new outdoor learning spaces and built a new hospitality kitchen and outdoor gym. We’ve also started preparing for our whole school ‘Take Over’ project in conjunction with Sydney Opera House, which will occur later in the year. This is following on from our successful ‘Take Over’ in 2019 with 100 students, only this time the whole school will be involved including all staff and myself.
As we move forward, I want to take this time to wish all our students every success and I look forward to seeing all we can achieve in 2021.
